Delighted to have my thistle painting included in the 200th Royal Scottish Academy Annual Exhibition. The exhibition runs 9 May – 14 June 2026 at the Royal Scottish Academy of Art and Architecture, The Mound, Edinburgh, EH2 2EL. Gallery opening hours are Mon to Sat 10 – 5pm, Sun 12 – 5pm.
My painting is called ‘Cirsium vulgare, Ardnamurchan’ is acrylic on wood panel, 120x80cm, and is part on my ‘Elemental Plants‘ series. Inspired by the mighty Spear thistle plant itself and by the beautiful and barren land and seascape of Ardnamurchan. This thistle was growing by my friend’s gatepost in Portuairk, with the sea and the islands of Muck, Eigg and Rhum in the distance behind it (see below).
